Saigon Tet Book Festival Rakes in VND3.6bn, 28.5% More Than Last Year

The Book Street Festival was open for Tet from January 22 to 28.

Within the course of seven days, the festival welcomed 800,000 visitors and sold 50,000 books, Tuoi Tre reports. This year’s total revenue reached VND3.6 billion, a 28.5% increase compared to last year.

The festival activities were held alongside the Nguyen Hue Flower Street and offered over 60,000 book titles, according to Dan Sinh.

Besides showcasing books from different publishers, to celebrate the 90th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Communist Party, an exhibition titled Saigon – Ho Chi Minh City in the revolution for national liberation (1930-1975) was co-hosted by the National Archive II and the Department of Information and Communications. The exhibition showcased over 300 documents and images about Saigon’s revolutionary history.

Models of DK1 rigs, a series of steel platforms built in the Spratly Islands in the East Sea, were also displayed alongside information about their history and developments. With activities held on three streets, including Nguyen Hue, Ngo Duc Ke and Mac Thi Buoi, this year’s event marked the 10th anniversary of Tet book street festivals.

Although not part of the Tet book festival, the Nguyen Van Binh book street also welcomed about 100,000 visitors during Tet, receiving VND1.2 billion in revenue.
