[Video] Check out This Design for a Lotus-Shaped Cultural Center in Hanoi

Australian firm deciBel(Architecture))) recently debuted its proposal for a multipurpose public space in Hanoi, and it’s pretty impressive.

As far as buildings go, this certainly wouldn’t be the first time an architect chose to represent Vietnam through a lotus-inspired design. However, according to ArchDaily, the firm’s proposal for a multipurpose theater and cultural center takes its design to the next level by incorporating the national flower into not only the exterior of its design but within many details throughout the space.

First, the building would be situated over a 19-hectare lake in the capital that is intended to mitigate storm water, floating like a lotus above the surface. Its main facility, topped with a massive lotus flower, would house a 2,000-seat theater, an ice-skating rink, a cinema and a high-tech business incubator center as well as offices and restaurants, reports the architecture website. In the surrounding area, five smaller lotus flowers would ring the edge of the building.

However, the analogous architecture doesn’t stop there, as the textures and colors within the building also mimic a lotus flower’s natural design.

If approved, the Hanoi Lotus project would be constructed in an area west of Hanoi’s West Lake.

Take a look at a video rendering of the structure below:
