Across the internet, there is ample documentation of Vietnam’s cities in the days of French colonialism. Turn-of-the-century countryside snaps, however, are a little harder to come by.
Thankfully, Flickr master manhhai has curated a collection of 1920s black-and-white images from Vinh Long. Slightly less hectic than its larger urban counterparts, the sleepy town features the same outdoor markets, ornate Chinese pagodas, and opulent colonial homes that pepper the Mekong Delta today, albeit a bit less modern.
