Beginning with a delightfully kitsch, Star Wars-esque, rolling text introduction explaining how the clip was filmed during Tet in the early 1950s, the footage quickly shifts to grainy, quotidian footage from one Hanoi family over 60 years ago.

In contrast to many other films from this period, it has a very personal feel to it. It is as if the viewer is able to join the family as they travel across the capital. Dressed smartly for the occasion, they saunter across city streets, greet friends, take a cyclo ride and check out produce at the market, while the song 'Hà Nội Ngày Tháng Cũ,' sung by Ngoc Ha, adds to the sense of nostalgia.

The majority of the video is from 1950, but later scenes show the same family in the three years that followed, this time wandering around Hoan Kiem Lake, wrapped up warm against the chill mid-winter.
