Dan Tri reports that Hanoi's police are studying plans to quarantine large areas of of the city, or even the entire urban area, if the Covid-19 outbreak worsens significantly.

According to the news source, Colonel Tran Ngoc Duong, deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Police, told a meeting of the city's outbreak steering board on Wednesday that this was the case.

Duong said that various security plans are being formulated for a wide range of possibilities.

At that time, five Covid-19 patients were being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh District. A further 760 people at high risk of infection are quarantined. Everyone who came into contact with those patients will be tested free of charge, the newspaper adds.

This situation has become more complicated, as yesterday Nguyen Duc Chung, head of the Hanoi People's Committee, announced Vietnam's 45th Covid-19 case, a Vietnam Airlines flight attendant who returned to Hanoi from London.

Down south, two streets in Binh Thuan Province's Phan Thiet have been locked down after confirmation that nine people in the area have tested positive for Covid-19.
