The exhibit will be unveiled at the Temple of Literature during Vietnam Design Week from the 24th – 29th of September to celebrate UK- Vietnam heritage, sustainability and cross-cultural design exchange. Led by Wax Atelier (London), in collaboration with the Blue H’mong craftswomen of Pà Cò village (Hoà Bình), and KILOMET109 (Hà Nội), the exhibition explores the theme of design and sustainability through the metaphorical realms: LAND, WATER, HEAVEN.

A slice of life through a duo improv

Hanoi, every Saturday in November 2022. ATH Production presents a brand-new duo improv show where the audience decides the character's destiny & the actors improvise their ride of life.
Different from the improv cabaret where actors warm their audience up through small games and then they perform a medium lenghth improv from 10 to 20minutes, I know you know I know you don’t know, like their title is one long improv. To make one hour improv show, the only way is to be well prepared. The structure of the show has been invented for a two person show, the actors experimented it and changed it until they were completely satisfied.
Two main characters will be progressively introduced. The audience will discover their personality, their memories through their past and their own relationship. Then they meet each other in a complicated relationship decided by the audience, they fight against each other, then get separated until a day, something special happen and put them close to each other again. A happy or unhappy ending is in the audience's hands.
“Even though this show is very well structured, it is still a huge challenge for the actors, since this is a true duo improv – 2 persons taking all the roles of the show : actors, MC and technician! No one will get their back, it’s like a Poker All-in, they win or they loose everything.” - said Hoa My, Theatre 21’s manager.

A solo exhibition by Ly Hoang Ly as part of her ongoing project 0395A.ĐC

More than 10 years ago, Ly Hoang Ly officially commenced her project ‘0395A.ĐC’. 2022 marks the second time she presents it in Vietnam. Vietnam - the beginning of it all, the meeting place where all thoughts are summoned. From this place – bodies have been turned away, disappearing into thin air. To this place – again and again, exiled souls have returned.

Spanning many different decades of Ly’s career, ‘0395A.ĐC’ is a multilayered living body of work - consisting of text, painting, sculpture, photography, artist book, video art, installation art, performance art, architecture and public art. From a seed of idea to now an ever-evolving project, ‘0395A.ĐC’ continues to grow alongside the artist's ongoing inquiry into the notions of home, identity, life and death, as well as her re-telling of the epic story and continuous struggle of human (im)migration. In doing so, the project both highlights and contests the ways in which micro and personal narratives are often forgotten in the memorization and circulation of History.

In 2017, ‘0395A.ĐC’ was first launched in Saigon. This time, it ‘travels’ to Hanoi with the name, ‘The dreamer: heterotopia, tabula rasa, noble silence’. A different self - one that showcases the accompanying artworks in a different composition, under a different light. A deviation from the original, one might say, without realizing that the original, indeed, has never existed. For every time ‘0395A.ĐC’ is shown in a new location or exhibition space, the artist would disassemble its body, reconstruct its parts, transform its essence and breathe new life into its multifaceted identity.

Continuously digging into the conceptual and contextual weight of the subjects in study, while also expanding the visual, material and experiential possibilities of both the overall project and its accompanying artworks – this way of working runs parallel with Ly’s examination of ideas of (dis)placement and rootlessness, perfectly illustrating the fluctuating and fluid nature of history and identity. Thus, one thing is for sure: if you have encountered ‘0395A.ĐC’ before (in Saigon or elsewhere), you will now once again meet with images and words that are both familiar and uncanny, transparent and opaque, concealed and revealed, memorized and forgotten. Because just like life, art must always be constantly in flux.

The Embassy of Spain in Hanoi (Vietnam) is pleased to communicate that the Vietnamese wildlife conservationist, environmental defender and writer Dr. Trang Nguyen has won the 2022 Princess of Girona Foundation International Award for “her courageous and inspiring work in wildlife conservation in her own country and elsewhere in the world. Dr. Nguyen has shown a rare combination of leadership, perseverance and humility as she pursues an intersectional approach that also encourages women to work for the protection of wildlife, she does this at a time when the greatest crisis facing humanity is our own environmental future.”

The Embassy of Spain applauds the opportunity of this award which coincides with the double anniversary in 2022 between Spain and Vietnam: the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries and the 25th anniversary of the opening of the Embassy of Spain in Hanoi, a perfect occasion to stress the importance that Spain gives to the relevant position of Vietnam in the fight against Climate Change and Environmental Preservation.

The winner’s name was announced yesterday after an online meeting of a jury of international experts chaired by doctor, epidemiologist, researcher and member of the FPdGi’s Advisory Council Pedro Alonso; artist Mat Collishaw; cofounder and CEO of Humanity Crew Maria Jammal (2019 FPdGi International Award); CEO of European Centre Delphine Moralis;, CEO-General Manager of Education H-Farm, Antonello Barbaro; CEO and founder of ProTalento Juan David Aristizábal, (2021 FPdGi International Award), who acted as secretary to the jury, and historian and journalist Giles Tremlett.

The Embassy of Spain promoted her candidacy in recognition of her merits in the defense and conservation of the environment. Particularly remarkable are her commitment to fight against the illegal trade in endangered species of wild flora and fauna, her defense of ecosystems which are vital to biodiversity and climate resilience, her solidarity with her colleagues in tackling sexual harassment in environmental conservation and her engagement in environmental education and awareness, both in Vietnam, in cooperation with the Vietnamese authorities, and internationally. Dr. Trang Nguyen is in a unique position of leadership in Southeast Asia for her very broad international understanding of environmental issues and her well-known multidisciplinary and cross-cutting work, thanks to her academic excellence, her pioneering research and scientific publications, her long professional career -despite being only 32 years old- in various continents and organizations and her role as founder and director of the NGO WildAct Vietnam. The life of Dr. Trang Nguyen is an example of the conviction with which we must act in this critical decade, in which decisions will determine the course of humanity and the quality of life of future generations.

The Princess of Girona Foundation was constituted on 26 June 2009. Her Royal Highness Princess Leonor de Borbón y Ortiz, Heir to the Crown of Spain, also holds the title of Princess of Girona and is the Honorary President of the Princess of Girona Foundation. The Princess of Girona Foundation created the International Award in 2019 with the aim of recognizing the professional and personal efforts of young people from any part of the world who stand out for their work, merits and exemplarity in any of the other categories of the Foundation’s Awards. In addition to Dr. Trang Nguyen, previous winners of this award include Juan David Aristizábal Ospina, the cofounder and CEO of Humanity Crew Maria Jammal (2019) and the founder of the Ocean CleanUp Boyan Slat (2020). The Foundation’s main objective is to work for young people in all areas that are critical for their future. And Dr. Trang Nguyen is the first Asian recipient of this Award. The 2022 Princess of Girona Foundation Awards Ceremony will be taking place in Barcelona (Spain) in these coming weeks.

8. Wash your hands with soap after the clean-up event

1. Handle hazardous items such as chemicals, guns or objects potentially carrying disease such as dead animals, animal faeces, syringes, condoms, medical waste or any unidentified objects.

2. KHC reserves the right to use any photograph, video taken at the Clean Up Events for marketing purposes.
3. All the volunteers are responsible for taking care of any equipment provided by KHC for the Clean Up Events, as well as return them to the group after finishing their job. Items not returned to KHC must have their equivalent replacement cost paid for by the borrower.

We use and share only non-identifying information data such as age, gender, or city of residence of volunteers with our partners and donors to describe the types of people that enjoy helping KHC and Hanoi. We'll have nag champa, Indian desserts, mindful music exploration. And a rickety old train to get you there - it's The Bollywood Caboose!
