Earth Science: A Better Understanding of Our Future @ U.S. Embassy in Hanoi

This NASA Earth Science Event features senior NASA Headquarters and NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory managers and researchers who will present on the NASA Earth Science Division (ESD) Earth observation program and on the use of satellite data in collaborative international research.

Earth observation is vital to understand Earth’s systems and the changes taking place on Earth today. At this event, invited NASA speakers will describe the Earth observation instruments NASA ESD uses to observe the air, water, land, ice, and the Earth’s interior. These instruments measure precipitation, soil moisture, vegetation, sea level change, air pollution, and ice sheets on the ground, from airplanes and balloons, and from satellites. The speakers will explain the latest results from these instruments and discuss what the results tell us about Earth’s systems.

This event will also highlight the central role of international collaboration in helping us understand the changes happening on Earth today and the changes we might expect to see in the future. Global earth observation data helps us understand how the Earth’s systems are connected and how they respond to human-induced and natural processes. This then informs governments, businesses, and citizens around the world.

Finally, the speakers will highlight NASA ESD international collaboration with Vietnam. They will share what the latest research reveals about the air we breathe, the water we use, the crops we grow, the environment we live in, and the changing climate we are facing
