Hanoi Dance Fest 2019 consists of six dance performances with Vietnamese choreographers living in Germany, Switzerland and Vietnam, a Vietnamese-French choreographer and a Scottish choreographer. All contemporary dance pieces will showcase the unique features of the diverse culture of each country.
Hanoi Dance Fest 2019 aims to create a stage for young and talented choreographers, promoting new ideas and diverse multidisciplinary collaborations between local and international choreographers and artists working in different cultural contexts. At the same time, the event will also be a chance for the Vietnamese audience to explore and discover aesthetic values and impressions introduced by contemporary dance.

30.6.2019, 8PM | FeMale - LOOP - MULTIDIMENSIONAL

JAME SUTHERLAND’s work shows a male – female partnership that is broken by an external female’s attraction for the female. FeMale is about unconventional relationships and what seems to be unconventional on the outside turns out to conventional on the inside. The piece explores the possibility or the impossibility of a stable partnership between the two females.

LOOP is the first solo of the artistic director XUAN LE who was champion of France in 2009 and ranked 6th in the world championship of freestyle slalom the same year. Loop is the result of the unique combination of freestyle slalom and dance. With an uncluttered stage where character, light and sound are delicately mixed, the audience will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the imaginary and fairy world of artistic and poetic rollers lines.

Multidimensional, choreographed by HUY TRAN, opens to the public different perspectives on one choreography. But it is not alone about visual perspective. The variated dimensions range from the mood, to the music, the lighting to the scenery and the stage design. Furthermore, the audience gets the opportunity to see the same choreography from different angles. One choreography, yet not just one experience. HUY TRAN works currently as the artistic director of the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, Germany.
