Action Blockbuster 'Hai Phuong' Will Be Released on Netflix on May 22

Hai Phuong (Furie) follows a former gangster, played by Ngo Thanh Van, trying to save her kidnapped daughter.

Starting May 22, Hai Phuong will be available for watch in 100 countries on Netflix, Tuoi Tre reports. In North America, the movie will be listed on the streaming service in September this year. Starting June 25, the film will also be distributed through other 11 video-on-demand platforms including iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, VUDU, Comcast, Playstation, Xbox, Directv, Charter, Uverse, Fandagonow.

Hai Phuong was first released in Vietnam on February 22 and hit theaters in Canada and the United States in March. With more than VND200 billion in revenue, Hai Phuong was the highest-grossing Vietnamese movie of all time for two months until the release of Avengers: EndgameHai Phuong will also be screened in Chinese theaters in the near future, although dates haven't yet been announced.

So far, the Ngo Thanh Van feature has received positive feedback from moviegoers and critics, gaining a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

"Notable third for its sly shift from basic genre outing to self-conscious genre outing," writes Matthew Lickona from the San Diego Reader, adding that "star Veronica Ngo takes her lumps with aplomb, and director Le-Van Kiet knows how to film a fight scene."
